OP San Marco of Chioggia
The OP San Marco is among the first Italian producer organizations and was recognized in 1980 initially for anchovies and sardines. In the following years the flying fishing activity has become increasingly specialized and, therefore, in 2003 the OP requested and obtained an integration of the recognized demersal species.
Key products: sole, prawns, scampi, mantis shrimp.

The product
The key products are mainly mantis shrimp, prawns, scampi and sole. The fresh catch is delivered to fish markets or wholesalers in compliance with an environmental plan. All the fished product is landed at the Chioggia Fish Market after labelling for which an appropriate program has been created. Each trawler has a customized software for printing labels on board.

The production
Today the Cooperativa San Marco OP has 27 boats divided into ten divergent and seventeen rapid, of medium/large size. The OP manages the entire commercial part by managing the fishing days and the sales phase which are divided into two daily negotiations from Monday to Saturday. The OP also supports all the services and needs of the associated companies: wages, accounting, contacts with public bodies and 360-degree union relations. Since its establishment, the OP has been a member of Confcooperative.
