Pilamare Cooperative OP
Recognized in 2013, the OP Cooperativa Pilamare specializes in sustainable fishing of blue fish, adapting supply to demand to enhance the product. The very fresh catch is sold wholesale directly at the landing port of Pila.

The product
Pilamare products are linked to fresh Adriatic fish, especially anchovies, sardines and papalina. These species, typical of blue fish, are appreciated for their taste, versatility in the kitchen and nutritional profile rich in proteins and omega-3 fatty acids. The absence of an auction for blue fish allows direct sales to wholesalers, who then supply large-scale retail trade and the catering sector, guaranteeing freshness, traceability and a balanced quality-price ratio.
The production
Fishing is carried out according to a “tailor-made” model: with six pairs of twin boats (12 units in total), which use flying nets to catch the target species. Fishing activity is planned weekly: trips take place from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays there is a voluntary stop to allow the fish stocks to rest. In addition, periods of biological rest (December-January and August) guarantee further protection for the resources. The quantity of fish caught is calibrated day by day, based on market needs, so as to avoid waste and maintain a balance between supply and demand.
