Pila Fishermen's Cooperative OP
Recognized in 2005, it is the only Italian PO for fishing and aquaculture that integrates maritime, lagoon and river systems. Specialized in fishing local species such as mantis shrimp, prawns and sole, it practices certified organic mussel farming and manages the Pila fish market.
Key products: mantis shrimp, prawns, sole.

The products
Production is exclusively local, with particular attention to the quality of the catch and farmed products, such as organic mussels from offshore plants. An additional added value is the in-house management of all the catch through its own wholesale fish market, the autonomy in ice production, fuel supply and the presence of specialized personnel, including an auctioneer and a health manager who ensure operational efficiency and maximum health and hygiene safety. The Cooperative has a vast direct commercial network both with large-scale retail trade and with other circuits.

The production
The Pila Fishermen's Cooperative operates in a unique context, where marine, lagoon and river fishing systems meet, making it the only PO in Italy to boast recognition for both fishing and aquaculture activities. Thanks to over 122 operating units, members can access different capture and farming environments, integrating methods and techniques that enhance local biodiversity. The catch, strictly 0 km, is channeled into the company's own fish market. Attention to the marine ecosystem, target species and seabed resources has allowed the Cooperative to develop a responsible management model, which combines tradition and innovation, protecting the quality of the product and the balance of the environment in which it operates.
